Fire Safety Services in Denmead

Denmead is a thriving village and civil parish in the City of Winchester district of Hampshire, located about 3 km northwest of Waterlooville and around 11 miles north of Portsmouth. As of the 2011 Census, the village had a population of 6,736. Once part of the ancient Hambledon parish, Denmead became an independent community in the late 19th century, with All Saints’ Church at its heart. The village still reflects its rural origins, bordered by the Forest of Bere to the west and open farmland to the east.

The village is situated along the B2150 Hambledon Road, which links Waterlooville to Hambledon, and enjoys good bus services connecting it to Portsmouth, Cowplain, and other surrounding villages. While Denmead does not have its own railway station, residents typically use nearby stations in Havant or Cosham, which offer regular train services on the London–Portsmouth line.

Denmead’s local economy is built around retail, small business services, and community-based enterprises. The High Street features a range of shops and services, including a chemist, hardware store, vet, barbers, estate agents, and a Co-op supermarket. Parklands Business Park on the edge of the village is home to a wide variety of small and medium-sized enterprises including accountants, construction services, energy firms, and engineers. Many residents also commute to nearby employment hubs in Portsmouth, Winchester, and Southampton.

Community life in Denmead is active and well-supported. Facilities include a war memorial hall, community centre, and King George’s Field which offers a skate park, cricket pitch, football field, tennis and bowls facilities. The village has a youth theatre group, cadet corps, and a fitness trail built to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. Primary education is provided by Denmead Infant and Junior Schools, and the local preschool operates from the pavilion. Denmead is surrounded by Hambledon to the west, Cowplain to the south, Clanfield and Purbrook to the northeast, and Waterlooville to the southeast, anchoring it within a network of rural and semi-urban Hampshire settlements.
